On July 2nd, WaterCampus, the premier meeting point and innovation hub for the water technology sector, hosted an interactive networking event. The iconic Doperkerk opened its doors for a lunch focused on connection and collaboration. Various parties from the business sector, investors, research community, and government gathered to strengthen their connections. This event once again highlighted the valuable role of WaterCampus as a breeding ground for the water technology sector.
Diverse participants and new connections
The lunch attracted an impressive group of representatives from WaterCampus, including Wetsus, CIV, CEW, and the Water Alliance. Additionally, representatives from companies such as Wafilin Systems, Hydraloop, and SusPhos, which have since moved to their own locations, were present along with dynamic startups and innovators like Recell, Rinagro, Doderm, HULO, Versi-Watertech, and Aavalor. Government representatives and investors, including the municipality of Leeuwarden, the province of Friesland, and the NOM, also attended. Emerging talent from the PhD pool of Wetsus and the WAC, along with supporting parties like marketing agency Wettermerk, contributed to a lively atmosphere.
Despite the bad weather, around 60 enthusiastic water tech professionals found their way to the Doperkerk. This resulted in an afternoon filled with new connections and collaboration opportunities.
Highlights of the lunch
The event was festively opened by Evelien Walstra from the Municipality of Leeuwarden and Ruth Rottiné from Wettermerk. Evelien then set the tone with an interactive quiz about Leeuwarden, which ended in an exciting race won by Johannes Boonstra from Wetsus. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, thanks to the relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, entertainment, and inspiring conversations. This event provided ample opportunities to forge new bonds and strengthen existing ones. For emerging talent, it was a unique chance to explore the possibilities for entrepreneurship and innovation within the WaterCampus community.
