LL4WIDE- LIVING LABS FOR WATER INNOVATION DEMONSTRATION EXCHANGE

A North-West Europe (NWE) collaboration to create a network of water and wastewater test and demonstration facilities for SMEs to develop new water related innovative technologies.
The main objective of LL4WIDE is to establish a transnational network of testing facilities which can be used by SMEs in North-West Europe (NWE) to test, demonstrate and develop new products for the water sector. In this way, new innovations will be developed accelerating the time to market.
During the lifetime of the project, at least 120 SMEs will be supported by testing 90 new technologies, of which 30 technologies are expected to be brought to the market by the SMEs. In the long term, the network will remain in place after the project lifetime. A business model will be developed to ensure the collaboration between partners and provide access to the network of test facilities for SMEs on a paid-for basis after the project.
The project will be executed from March 2018 until December 2021 and is funded by the European regional development fund (ERDF).

Jordi Moreno obtained his PhD at the University of Twente for his research in Blue Energy. He authored several scientific papers about reverse electrodialysis (RED), reverse osmosis (RO) and membrane bioreactors (MBRs) for wastewater treatment. Now, he is strongly focus on coordinating the LL4WIDE project, creating a transnational network of demonstration sites and accelerating water innovations to the market. At the same time, at REDstack he is part of the R&D team at REDstack up-scaling the Blue Energy technology towards commercialization.
THE VIDA PROJECT IN A NUTSHELL

The VIDA project has started in April 2018 and has received funding from the European Union’s H2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement nº 777795. This project aims to support SME-led innovation in the food value chain by:
- Ensure greater resource efficiency
- Enhance management and control
- Improve knowledge and data collection
- Promote a more collaborative and coordinated approach
VIDA will operate for 3 years and has reserved €3,375,000 for innovation funding grants, which will directly stimulate and cultivate innovation in European food chains.
Indirectly, SME’s will benefit through support and training, networking and business brokerage opportunities to develop 10 large scale innovation projects in VIDA.
The presentation will outline the funding opportunities within Vida, and describing examples of potential projects.

Since April 2018, Tom Vereijken is Project Manager at CEW for the European Horizon 2020 project called ‘VIDA’, developing innovations on water/energy in the Food sector. Next to his regular work, Tom has been actively involved in the European water scene, supporting organisations like the European Water Partnership, WssTP and the Club of Rome. Tom is a Board member in Waterboard ‘Zuiderzeeland’.

Albert Bosma was born and lives in Friesland and is a great lover of water sports. He is the director of the Bison Foundation and the financial controller of the following foundations; Wetsus, Water Alliance, CEW and TKI Water Technology. His passion is to increase the economic impact of water technology for the Netherlands. For this he uses his knowledge and tries to fully support this goal through Regional and European subsidy possibilities and financing.
